NOW PLAYING:  Of the night - Bastille

It's December. That means two things. The beginning of summer for us Southern folk and the season of silliness. Can not wait for those frantic and dangerously obnoxious shoppers stripping shelves clean, crowded parking lot scenes bursting with shiny, overheated vehicles accompanied with the aggressive shaking of fists from their drivers who scream obscenities at other cussing drivers fighting for that ever illusive space to park. But I suppose it's not all that bad. With those scary patrons also comes the bright twinkling lights of super sized Christmas trees and their displays and those jolly fat men parading in red suits and impressively bad faux beards. What do you guys love about December?

By the way, if you haven't yet, don't forget to enter Coco's 2nd birthday giveaway! Someone's going to come away with a $200 giftcard to spend at either Net-A-Porter or Shopbop.

  4. I still cannot fathom that Christmas takes place during the summer in the Southern Hemi---it blows my mind. Do you still have the christmas tree tradition, or make any of the desserts? I feel so ignorant!

  6. What love about Dec is definitely Christmas time, all the lights on the street and the crowdy streets. Is getting freezing where I live, enjoy the summertime! xo

  7. haha, it does get crazy at the stores in December! I try to avoid them at all costs, and did a lot of shopping online this year. Of course now I'm kicking myself as some of the parcels haven't shown up, grr!

  10. Hahahaha you're really not a summer girl are you?? ;)
I really adore this group of photos. I've been staring at it for such a long while. The silly season isn't so bad! Admittedly shopping malls aren't so great... shopping in general at this time of year, but there's buying gifts (which I love!) and beach times and eating WAY too much food.
Sorry I haven't been around this space for a while by the way. I've been checking in on my phone a couple times a week on my way to work but mornings and phones and commenting on phones just doesn't work.
Your comments never fail to make me smile though! I've been loving the advice you've given me the past few comments and all the shared/identifiable feelings. I'm glad to hear that people start to calm down a bit when they gain a few years experience. I can't keep up with everyone!! hahaha.
Man, this group of photos makes me want to run around and take photos. Can we collaborate on something when we're in the same city?! :P

  16. How hot must be those red-suited men walking around!!! Here it's cold, they have to enjoy the beard and padding, but there... I feel for them.:) I'm not that crazy about December (for basically the same reasons as you mentioned) but I do love the lights. When our capital gets lit up it can be really magical...
