If you recall from my previous outfit post (refresh your memory here) I was rather disappointed in the jacket I received from NewChic. Along with this jacket I also received this striped dress; a piece that I have been loving sick. While I have a questionable relationship/obsession with stripes and may or may not be the most bias on the matter, I seriously adore this dress. The quality is fabulous, far exceeding my expectations. It's a sleek, flattering cut on a design that generally is anything but. And comfort levels are clearly obvious, as they do with any kind of t-shirt style dress.

Also those Valentino lovelies were a gift I gave to myself after hitting that milestone birthday back in January. Unbelievably I am yet to take these lovers out and about, despite carting them with me on my birthday sojourn to the USA. So far I've limited myself to admiring them from afar, perched atop a white shelf, fancifully on display. I'm far too nervous to do much more, afraid I'll horribly deface them with my clumsiness as I am overly prone to doing. Ridiculously irrational right? This used to be a quirk of mine when I was younger. I'd splurge on designer pieces (that literally broke the bank) only to have them lay dormant in my closet. Pieces like this Chloe dress and tank I managed to acquire during those coveted Phoebe Philo days. Such a sartorial atrocity to commit and yet I thought I'd outgrown such nonsense but alas, astonishingly here we are. Their maiden voyage, none other than this outfit post.

  2. You know that saying, "Eat Dessert First," well, take it from an "oldie" like me, wear those amazing shoes ASAP!!! Life is too short not too wear fabulous shoes!!! (or eat dessert first, and all those other clichés:) Who cares about roughing them up, wear them I tell ya and you won't be sorry!!! (and please show us when you do:)

    1. You make very valid points here Louise. Life is indeed too short not to enjoy it fully (and the desserts no less hehehe!) xx

  3. Gorgeous outfit! Love the bag and those shoes!! I used to be the same way about not wanting to "mess up" my "good" stuff. But my husband (then boyfriend) always said "what are you saving them/it for?? You should enjoy them/it! You only live once" And he's right. So I've changed quite a bit since then and try to wear most of my "good" stuff.

  4. I love a great stripe, and your shoes look amazing. I totally get how you feel though. I'm always afraid of ruining something so precious. I guess I just gotta get up and "live" one day, haha!

  8. Loving how you styled this outfit, so much glam! Those Valentino sandals are absolutely gorgeous, and I think that they go beautifully with the lovely clutch and the long cardigan. :) <3 I can see why you love the striped dress, also - it's so pretty and really shows off your lovely figure! 15. I think I've definitely been guilty of committing sartorial sins such as the one you mentioned before. I often justify them with preservation of pieces, but I think I need to whack myself out of that mindset, ha.

I'm loving the look, Sonia, that striped dress looks wonderful on you.

Love the rockstuds-- glad to hear that they're finally getting some wear :) I'm the same way with my splurge purchases; perfectly content at admiring them from afar lol

  58. Yes, an outfit post....and a gorgeous one at that! You need to do more of these Sonia. Love the sleeveless cardigan, striped dress, and Valentino sandals combo. The clutch takes the look to the next level. I want to recreate this outfit! P.S. I'm the same way....so clumsy. You can bet that there will be a stain on my top or my brand new white jeans by end of day lol. A well deserved gift I say (even if you don't wear them and admire them from afar). ;)
