some say the world will end in fire,
some say in ice.
from what I’ve tasted of desire
i hold with those who favor fire.
but if it had to perish twice, i think i know enough of hate.
to say that for destruction ice
is also great
and would suffice.

A contrasting photographic editorial seemingly inspired by Robert Frost’s classic poetry; Fire and Ice. Photographed by Australian photographer She Is Frank, taking us to two extremes. Arid desert sands and the arctic blues make for a striking backdrop. Photographed here in the Australian outback for the rendition of “fire” and in Iceland for “ice”. Such an editorial for me conjures up emotions striking climate change and the inaction and denial of some large players. What was once a poetry fable, recanted in school classrooms and found in bookcases of aficionados, may very well play out to be our very futures. Though we won’t have a choice in which way perish, as fire will no doubt consume our planet and those who inhabit it. Ourselves included.
The Fire and Ice collection are part of She Is Frank’s very first exhibition and debut self published book.
