I’ve always adored blog posts that showcase exactly what one is toting about in their handbag. I personally am yet to complete such a post myself; purely because my everyday handbag is in need of a good clean out and contains a far less glamorous inner than most. While I may not be entirely comfortable showcasing my daily handbag, as we are in the midst of an Australian summer, I will however divulge the secrets to what makes for the ultimate beach day essentials. So while getting ready for some beach birthday shenanigans, I decided to take note of what I consider to be summer essentials for any day at the beach day. And yes you read that right, my birthday was yesterday so a floral crown, a new personal favorite of mine, is a piece I considered utterly essential.
When is comes to my personal beach day essentials, aside from swimwear I am a firm believer that a pair of sunglasses and sunblock is a no brainer. You can order your wayfarer glasses today at the HumpsOptics for that timeless, classic style you can wear anywhere. But back to swimwear, like a good LBD every style maven should own a timeless piece in black. I’ve had this triangle set from Kookai for a few years now and it has proved to be quite the investment piece. A black bikini is undeniably transcendent and always on trend. When it comes to accessories like jewellery resist the urge to layer up. Keep it minimal and don’t go overboard. A ring or two, a stack of bracelets and layered necklaces may look stylish paired with your swimwear, it can be unpractical and turn into a nightmare under the hot sun. No one likes being burned by metal hardware nor have their fashion jewellery turn green after an unintended dip or three into salty waters. If you feel the need to accessorise, opt for a vibrant kaftan or travel scarf instead. Or choose to add that something extra to your ensemble via some statement hardware in your footware, like with a pair of gladiator sandals. You could even stretch the glamour to your handbag, rather than bringing the traditional tote bag with your essentials, a satchel works in much the same capacity while also adding some flair. Just keep in mind you may be brushing out cheeky grains of sand for weeks to come.
