When it comes to style and luxury, Rimowa is one of the hottest luggage brands there is. ALUMINIUM
Historically, all of Rimowa’s cases were made of aluminium. This idea was sparked by the use of the metal in aircraft design. Because aluminium was light and strong, it was perfect for flight, and also perfect for luggage. The Rimowa brand began crafting cases from aluminium as early as the 1930’s, with aluminium Rimowa luggage becoming a mainstream trend in the 50’s. POLYCARBONATE
While aluminium still makes for a great choice for cases, Rimowa later branched out into designing and developing polycarbonate cases. In fact, they were the very first brand to do this, once again inspired by the use of the material in the aviation industry.
Rimowa’s innovative polycarbonate luggage, for example their Salsa range, is designed to yield to air pressure on a flight, and then ping back to its original shape as soon as pressure is released, making it highly protective.

Rimowa cases are designed to be light and practical, as well as extremely tough, whether you choose the aluminium or polycarbonate options. For most people, the choice between the two really comes down to personal preference – many people love the classic look of the aluminium, but others prefer the polycarbonate because it is not prone to dents or scratches (aluminium cases do pick these up on trips, and while some people love the way every case comes to look unique and tell a story, others prefer their case to look pristine even after many, many trips).
