There are certain words that when seen or heard trigger a peculiar function in my brain. And by that I mean conjuring up certain images or depictions. I’m not talking about the charming and blissful kind of memories that we all can relate to. Nor do I speak of humble nostalgia. I’m talking about vividly hearing Carson Kressley mouthing the word “cashmere”, at the mere sight of a cashmere something. Or whenever I see or hear the name Jeanne, my mind immediately begins to play Daydream believer by The Monkees.
While theoretically this particular song has very little to do with the seventies, I can’t help but envision rambunctious scenes at The Speakeasy in London. Or Farrah Fawcett’s infamous hair. And maybe it is the boxy fit of that glorious Saint Laurent cardigan, but iconic settings and company at The Viper Room also transpire in my imagination.
