We all live busy lives, so it can be hard to face up to cleaning your own home. The little spare time that you have free should be kept back for relaxation – not cleaning. If only the cleaning could just do itself. But, the opposite side of the coin is that the last thing that you want when you’re relaxing is to be surrounded by mess. So, the question is, how would you keep your home clean without wasting all of your spare time on the job?
In this article, we’ll share some top cleaning tips that show it’s possible to have a clean home and some spare time.
STOP STRIVING FOR PERFECTION
A major step when it comes to cleaning your home is getting over the idea that your home needs to be immaculate at all times. It doesn’t. All homes get messy on occasion, and if you’re busy with life, you’ll have to admit to yourself that it’s just not an easy task. Instead of aiming to make your home ‘spotless’, why not shoot for ‘clean enough’? Things may get messy from time to time. The trick is to be less hard on yourself.
DECLUTTER
If your home looks cluttered, it makes cleaning harder to stay on top of. Rid yourself of as much clutter as you can, and this will help make the job easier. Go through your home and fine everything that you have no need for and get rid of it.
LOAD THE DISHWASHER AFTER EVERY MEAL
Nobody likes washing up. But there is a secret to it. It’s easier if you do small amounts each day. Wash your dishes as you go along, instead of waiting for them to pile up. Even if you own a dishwasher, loading the machine can be a huge chore, especially if you have a mountain to wash. Once you have finished eating, rinse your plates off and put them straight in the dishwasher. You’ll save yourself a big job.
BREAK DOWN CLEANING TASKS OVER THE WEEK
Instead of doing all of your cleaning once a week and losing all your spare time, break down your cleaning and do it over the week. By spending a few minutes every day on a couple of smaller tasks, you’ll get the house cleaned without spending all day on the task. So set a schedule. You can clean the bathroom one day, vacuum another day. Clean the floors with the best floor scrubber the next day. If you break the jobs down, they’ll seem like less effort.
PRIORITIZE TASKS
If you have limited time to clean, focus your attention on cleaning the areas of the home that need it most. Ask yourself which are the most important jobs in your home and focus on that thing. The job that needs doing most will be different each time. Sometimes it may be washing up, other times it could be washing up. Sometimes it might be sorting through a pile of junk that has accumulated on the kitchen table.
