If you’ve got your makeup routine down, but it is still taking more time than you’d like, you might want to consider simplifying it. Especially if you wake up a bit later in the morning, or you are in the rush in the evening, it is vital to deliver maximum impact with the least amount of effort.

So what are your options and ways to simplify your makeup routine?

PERMANENT MAKEUP

A cosmetic tattooist can tattoo eyebrows onto your face to save you time in the morning. But there are many people who would debate whether having permanent makeup on the face would do the trick. It is a very popular practice, but you’ve got to decide if it’s going to suit you. But of course, if you are constantly in a rush, and your lifestyle or work means you are getting more frustrated because you need to get up at 5 a.m. to do your makeup, perhaps this would suit you.

USE A PRIMER

It all depends on the level of coverage you need. If you wear a primer, this can reduce the need for foundation and concealer, saving you a lot of time in the mornings. You can apply the primer in the same way as you would moisturiser, but not everybody would benefit from skin smoothers. However, they can work as a fantastic base for all types of makeup. After you moisturise your face, you just apply the primer, and you are good to go.

ESSENTIAL AREAS

You can cut down on your makeup time by applying foundation only to the areas that need it. You can use foundation as your concealer, depending on your skincare needs. It’s a very easy approach to make your morning routine easier. If you have a bit more time, you can finish with powder to blend the concealer and foundation in, giving it the right level of shine.

A SIMPLE BLUSH

Think about the parts of your face you want to highlight, and work towards those. If you look pale in the morning, use a blush brush and apply powder blush to your cheeks, focusing on the high parts of the cheekbones. It’s a very simple tactic that would make an instant lift.

FOCUS ON THE EYES + LIPS

If you are really pressed for time, these are the two areas you have to focus on if you’re looking for ways to simplify your makeup routine. A quick fix is applying some red lipstick and leaving everything else, which makes it look like you have worked hard on your makeup. Also, think about highlighting your eyes. Sometimes all you need is curled eyelashes to give them a more open look, and only takes a minute to do. If you spend a long time getting ready in the morning, it can be frustrating after a while, which is why you’ve got to focus on one feature. It’s a very popular tactic but if you really are stuck for the time, either focus on emphasising your eyes or your lips, but not both. If you focus on your eyes, lips, and cheeks to enhance your look, this might be too much.
