Your skin is the largest organ on your body and it’s one that’s exposed to the outside elements. That means that your skin will be subjected to a lot over the years, including what you decide to put in your body or use on the outside too. Here are four tips to take care of your skin.

HYDRATE

Firstly, the most important part of keeping your skin happy and healthy is with water. Hydrating your body is going to keep it in good condition for longer and for years down the line. You should be drinking around a litre and a half a day, and more if exercising. It’s important to keep your skin hydrated otherwise it loses moisture and can also dry out. If you struggle to drink water in general, then try to have it with other things like as a hot beverage or add sweeteners like fruit. It can also help to have a bottle so that you can keep track of how much you’re drinking.

THINK VEGAN + NON-GMO

When you’re looking after your skin, you’ll need to make sure that you use high-quality options. Some skincare products can have chemicals and ingredients that might be harmful long term. These are worth avoiding. Choosing something that’s GMO-free can be more than recommended. You’ll have multiple choices for this, although they could be slightly more costly. They’ll be more than worth it, however. Some of the more notable options, such as Healixir, also boast being vegan-friendly and gluten-free.

If you’re a celiac or would prefer animal-free products, then that could make them more than recommended. These options are typically better for your skin. They should offer the same results as alternatives if not better ones. Spending the time to research and compare brands will be an essential part of this. It could also be worth experimenting with them. You’ll want to ensure that you’re using the best product possible, so there’s no reason not to try a few options.

AVOID STRONG SOAPS

Strong soaps have a habit of stripping away the natural oils that your skin produces. A good way of making sure that this doesn’t happen is by picking soaps that aren’t so harsh on the skin. There are plenty on the market that are kinder to the skin and don’t need to be harsh on your skin. Pick soaps that also have the right ingredients you want to keep your skin hydrated and moisturised. Shea butter and coconut oil are two great examples of great ingredients for your skin.

KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE

Knowing your skin is an important part of taking care of it. Everyone has a different skin type so this might be dry, oily or combination. Your skin is something that might change over time too. So with that being said, having an awareness of your skin type is going to make sure that you are looking after your skin in the right way. You want to be wearing products that aren’t going to harm the skin or restrict it in any way that upsets your skin and breaks it out.

WEAR SPF

SPF is great for the skin as it forms a protective barrier from any UV rays. UV rays are dangerous for the skin and if you’re not careful can cause problems like skin cancer. You also want to watch out for accelerated ageing of the skin when subjecting it to too much UV rays. An SPF is critical to wear whenever you’re out everyday. If you’re not putting it on everyday, you could be exposing your skin to dangers. Your SPF can be put into your moisture or perhaps within any of your makeup.

These tips to take care of your skin are important to do not only in your teens but in your twenties and beyond. It’s never too early to take good care of your skin so that you can prevent ageing and damage to your skin in general.
